How to Prevent Defects in Aluminum Die Casting

2022-03-09

Different defects will appear in the process of aluminum die-casting, and these defects are mainly manifested as:

1. The structural design of the casting is unreasonable, there are sharp corners, and the wall thickness of the casting is too different; 2. The sand mold (core) has poor concessions; 3. The mold is partially overheated; 4. The pouring temperature is too high; The casting is taken out too early; 6. The heat treatment is overheated or overburned, and the cooling rate is excessive.

How to prevent aluminum casting defects

1. Improve the structural design of the casting, avoid sharp corners, and strive for uniform wall thickness and smooth transition; 2. Take measures to increase the concession of the sand mold (core); 3. Ensure that all parts of the casting solidify at the same time or sequentially, and improve the design of the gating system; 4. Appropriately reduce the pouring temperature; 5. Control the cooling time of the mold; 6. Use the thermal correction method when the casting is deformed; 7. Correctly control the heat treatment temperature and reduce the quenching cooling rate.
